Mr Thornton teaches mathematics with endless patience and quiet enthusiasm. He enjoys watching pupils discover answers for themselves rather than simply giving them the solution.
His lessons are full of puzzles, challenges and moments that encourage even the least confident mathematicians to keep trying. Mistakes are never failures—they are simply part of learning.
Jake doesn't always enjoy maths, but he soon realises that Mr Thornton is far more interested in helping his pupils think than proving how clever he is.
